RAIL LINK TO ETHIOPIA

Stage (1) planning for the development of rail link to the proposed Free Zone at Wedẽr, Ethiopia from the future Free Zone Port at Gara’ad, Puntland is currently in progress.  This may take some time as the appropriate Puntland laws and agreement with the respective governments of Puntland and Ethiopia have yet to be concluded.

It is hoped the meeting planned for 26^th of February 2006 between President Abdullahi Yusuf, Prime Minister Mohamed Ali Gedi and Speaker Sharif Hassan to promote reconciliation for the benefit of the Somali people will assist in clearing the way for this rail link.
